| Subject | The Miracle of Manchester, Sir John Barbirolli and the Halle Orchestra |
| Date | 12th March 2026 at 10.00 |
| Speaker | Geoff Scargill |
| Venue | Holmes Chapel Methodist Church |
Geoff is a retired head teacher and magistrate with a multiplicity of interests. He has decided to talk to us about Manchester, and the Halle Orchestra, which will be of great interest to many of us. He will also play some music. In particular, the u3a Out and About group often take a trip to the Bridgewater Hall to listen to the Halle Orchestra. Also many members hale from the Manchester area, so I am sure this is going to be a very fascinating and entertaining talk.
| Subject | Chateau Guedelon |
| Date | 9th April 2026 at 10.00 |
| Speaker | Ann Thorp |
| Venue | Holmes Chapel Methodist Church |
Ann is a local lady from Goostrey and she is coming to talk to us about Chateau Guedelon. Guédelon Castle (Château de Guédelon) is a castle under construction near Treigny in France. The castle is the focus of an experimental archaeology project aimed at recreating a 13th-century castle and its environment using period techniques, dress, and materials. This will appeal to many members who are interested in History, but will also be a fascinating talk for everyone.
