Group Details For Scottish Country Dancing (26/27 Season)


Group Description :

Scottish Country Dancing is a great way to keep fit whilst enjoying yourself. This group is aimed at beginners and less experienced dancers but more experienced dancers are welcome to join. You don't need a partner to join the group. The group is led by experienced dancers in the group on a rota basis who will give instructions on the dances and the dances will be walked through as required.

There are a large number of different Scottish Country Dances. We aim to teach dances which are popular in the area so that group members will feel confident to go to dances run by other Scottish Dancing Groups, if they so wish.

Note: Wear comfortable clothing and soft flat shoes. Trainers are fine at first until you are ready to invest in dancing shoes. Scottish country dance shoes are recommended when you are ready to buy them. These can be purchased from:- the Scottish Dance Shoe Company or James Senior.

The Scottish Country Dance Dictionary is a useful resource for group members - it gives written instructions & diagrams for dances and YouTube videos.

Cost is £20 per term in advance, with review in April 2027 to fine tune the accounts
