Walk: The walk starts at the Bottoms Reservoir just outside Langley Village. We walk along the road until we come to the T junction and turn right and join a footpath running parallel to the road and Ridgegate Reservoir. On entering Macclesfield Forest we follow the upward path leading to the edge of the forest to begin our ascent of Shutlingsloe. The approach to the summit is divided into three sections: a paved path of moderate ascent: a second section is a series of paved steps:  the final approach is a short scramble (10minutes) to the top of Shutlingsloe. (Height ~ 500m  - climb from the car ~ 300m). 

After reaching the top we head along the ridge and start our decent towards Banktod and join a farm track leading to a minor road. We continue passed  a pub to join a footpath on the right that traverses the hill side to join another farm track and on to a minor road. We turn off the road shortly and take a path on the right up to Oakenclough and then head down hill to the Pot Lords pub. Join a minor road for a short distance to pick up the Gritstone trail and back to the car. This walk includes 5 stiles. 

Car park - through Langley village and passed the last building on the right and you will see 2 or 3 Blue road side parking signs. Park opposite the Bottoms Reservoir in the allocated parking bays.

Travel time from Holmes Chapel about 35 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.
