Walk: Long Walk - Mam Tor Ridge to Castleton and back through Cave Dale. 

This walk starts at the Mam Tor National Trust car park (124832) free for NT members and then heads up to Mam Tor.

We continue along the ridge to Hollins Cross and then on to Lose Hill (476m) where we turn right heading down towards Castleton.

We pick up the path heading down to Losehill farm and then onto Spring House Farm where we turn right and head towards Hollowford Road and into Castleton.

In Castleton we go passed the church and head towards Cave Dale. We continue through the dale heading back to the car park at Mam Tor. 

Total milage around 8miles with a total ascent of around 500m. Time including coffee and lunch stops of around 5 hours. 

Travel time to car park around 1 hour from Holmes Chapel. 

Meeting time 9.30 to 9.45 to ensure we can all park in the NT car park (means leaving Holmes Chapel by around 8.30/8.45) 

Please bring a packed lunch. 

Note if the NT car park is full then we will proceed to Castleton and park in the pay and display car park in the village and start the walk from the car park.
