Aims: Pilates is for health, exercise and relaxation. It has something to offer everyone whatever your age or current fitness level. Pilates is a series of movements that flow into one another. They are performed slowly and gently. Pilates concentrates on the body as a whole, stretching some muscles and strengthening others.
Although you will get stronger all over, one of the main benefits of Pilates is an increase in core strength - the important abdominal and back muscles at your centre that support your whole body whether moving or at rest. As these muscles strengthen, your posture will improve and you will find it easier to go about your daily tasks.
Regular Pilates sessions will help your co-ordination and enhance your balance which is of special importance through the ageing process. Instructor: Katherine Kirkman.
