Group Description :
Jazz is an exciting, diverse and sometimes challenging genre. The aim of our group is to enjoy live jazz in all its varied forms. However, the GL will also tempt group members with musical events that are not strictly "jazz", and sometimes far removed from jazz!
There are weekly Thursday live jazz concerts on Thursdays at Alsager Golfand Country Club, Audley Rd, Alsager ST7 2UR: no pre-booking is required - just turn up and pay £7 cash on the door, 8:00pm start, finish around 10:00pm. Monthly live jazz is available at the superb DavenhamLittle Theatre, Church Street, Davenham CW9 8NF, normally on Thursdays. Google jazz@davenham or go to www.davenhamplayers.co.uk to find out what's on. Pre-booking is required via jazz@davenham . Pay £13 by cash or card on entry. 8:00pm start. Often sells out quickly! There is on-street parking near the venue, and a decent bar, and the venue now has new seating!
Untried as yet are the Tuesday jazz nights at The Morley Green Club, Mobberley Road, Wilmslow, SK9 5NT., every second Tuesday of the month. Show starts 8:00pm. No pre-booking is required - just turn up and pay £10 on the door. Go to www.grahambrookjazz.co.uk for what's on. On-site parking and a bar.
Other venues that group members have attended are: Village Hall Music @ Appleton Thorn - check out their Facebook page for up-coming events. Excellent musicians in a diverse range of styles. (3) Village Hall Music @ Appleton Thorn | Facebook Going Up the Country Blues Club (www.hookerblues.co.uk ). The focus is on blues from solo players or small groups. Monthly gigs. Salt Works Sessions @ The Lion Salt Works Marston -Events are mainly folk music.
